Ika's new CD titled “Eight” is now available! This new album shows off a voice that has matured into a soulful voice that resonates with her listeners. While this Indonesian singer is young in years, her voice carries the weight of an old soul with the wisdom of life's experiences. Ika's songs have a distinctly R&B/jazz style, overlaid with some smooth funk! Listeners can hear Marcus’s moody trumpet on some of her tracks. Ika is a multi talented artist, gifted not only in music but also as a graphic designer and artist. As, the owner of her own design company (IkaArt & Designs), she designs all the graphics and CD covers for MYWPMUSIC. and for a variety of clients abroad.
Most of the songs on "Eight" are in English, however there are a few that Ika sings in her native language, Bahasa Indonesian. Her voice is intuitively soulful. “The way she sings, it is like she is not from Indonesia ! I feel like I am working with a singer from the USA,” says Marcus. “When I listened to her voice while she was recording in the studio I thought her voice sounded more like an American soul singer. I was even more amazed to learn that she never listened to any soul, R&B recordings as a child.”
Ika was born and raised in Jawa Indonesia and was adopted at age 11 by Marcus and family just before they moved to Germany. It was in Germany that young Ika started to display her talent for singing and graphic design. In 2000, her debut recording “Yo Apa Lagi” was released by Universal Metro Tama Indonesia and she was voted one of MTV Asias' top ten videos. The "Eight" album has allowed Ika to return to her heart's calling at long last. She is pleased to be able to share her voice and expression with jazz and funk audiences worldwide.
